Beginning from last Friday, a series of malicious programs, or to be precise, worms, has unleashed attacks on the widely-popular micro-blogging website, Twitter.
One of the first occurrences happened when a web address link, when posted on the Twitter site and clicked by readers, brings them to a malicious site that could cause even more messages to be sent to their followers.
These attacks were executed using JavaScript within the web browsers, making PCs running both Windows and Macs vulnerable. According to Twitter, no user information has yet to be compromised. A solution to protect users is to disable JavaScript. As a user myself, I need JavaScript to be running whilst access some website, so this is no foolproof solution. Ultimately, Twitter really need to do something at their end to fix this issue.
