Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the British inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW) has been awarded the Order of Merit, as reported by the BBC News on Wednesday.
He invented the Web's address system and layout in 1991 which eventually revolutionaries global communication. Currently, he is the director of the WWW Consortium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
During the early 1990s, he created the hypertext programme, in which his code developed has helped scientists to share their research and information across a huge network of computers.
