A Xubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn and PCLinuxOS user, nicknamed mig5, in Ubuntu Forums explained how he has managed to bypass Microsoft's Genuine Advantage Test which has been used to prove user's copy of Microsoft software to be authentic.
He claimed that he did this just for a laugh and did not expect his experimentation to work.
According to his post, he simply accessed Microsoft's site using IE4Linux to try and download Windows Defender from a Xubuntu machine.
As usual, the Genuine Advantage test was asked. Using the alternate authentication method, since IE4Linux does not support ActiveX, it generated a code, which was used on the authentication box - Presto! It worked! The download page was therefore instantly accessible.
To demonstrate his experiment, he recorded a video of how it works and uploaded to RapidShare, which can be downloaded from the link below.
