Travelling To Singapore? What Type And Amount Of Food Is Allowed

Not all food can be brought into Singapore. So, what is allowed and what is not? And for those that are allowed, how much can be brought in?

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) is being placed in charge for maintaining high standard of food safety in Singapore. As part of the practice, below are some guidelines on the types, quantities and sources of food that can be brought into the country.

Food Type Countries
Beef (chilled, frozen, processed or canned) Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Uruguay
Mutton (chilled, frozen, processed or canned) Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Uruguay, USA
Pork (chilled, frozen, processed or canned) Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA
Poultry (chilled, frozen, processed or canned) Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Switzerland, The Netherlands, USA
A total of 5kg per person of beef, mutton, pork and poultry

Food Type Countries
Hen Eggs Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, USA
Up to 30 eggs per person

Food Type Countries
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables All countries (However a phytosanitary certificate is required for fresh fruits and vegetables from the American Tropics)
Small, reasonable quantities hand carried for personal consumption

Food Type Countries
Fish products (except frozen cooked crabmeat, frozen cooked prawn meat and live or frozen oysters) All countries
5kg per person (provided that the total quantity of all seafood products does not exceed 5kg per person)

Live or frozen oysters Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, New Zealand, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA
5kg per person (provided that the total quantity of all seafood products does not exceed 5kg per person)

Food Type Countries
Frozen cooked prawn meat and frozen cooked crabmeat All countries
2kg per person (provided that the total quantity of all seafood products does not exceed 5kg per person)

Food Type Countries
Processed Food Products (all food products excluding meat and seafood products, fresh fruits and vegetables) All countries
Total weight or volume does not exceeed 5kg of litres and the total value is not more than S$100 (approximately €50) per person

When in doubt, make sure you declare your food items to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers.
