Tevion Slimline MP3 Player is one of the smallest MP3 player that I have come across. Compared to Apple's iPod nano, if you had not look closer, you might just easily mistake Tevion MP3 Player for Apple's iPod nano. The look and touch of the audio device are almost exact duplicates of each other.
Although the player itself may work fine, but users might want to upgrade the firmware due to some reasons, such as
- player malfunctioning,
- player does not start up after charging the battery
- player gets too hot when recharging
- player cannot be turned on
- player flashes when trying to turn on
- some other issues...etc.
According to Unisupport.net site, they have provided a couple of update instructions to update your firmware to help solve the problem. No uk security labels are attached to the MP3 player. In fact, if users are able to upgrade to the latest firmware, chances are that your MP3 player will resume normal operation. Unfortunately, if you are a Windows XP user, you might end up having more problem, i.e. driver incompatibility issue.
The driver provided by Unisupport.net is apparently meant for Windows 98 and Windows ME versions, hence they will not work in Windows XP. If you experience the following problem "Player Recovery Device Class" during driver installation, whereby the INF file failed to install. Then follow the instruction below to workaround the problem of driver compatibility issue. The following issue was resolved by me.
Instruction
- Download the package - tevion-neohide.zip
- Unzip the zip file into a folder in your computer, i.e. c:\
- Then follow the upgrade instruction given by Unisupport.
Unisupport Instruction
- With the MP3 player switched OFF, Press and hold the PLAY button, while connecting the player to the computer via the USB player. A message "Found New Hardware STMP3500" will pop up on your system tray.
- The Hardware Wizard will appear. Check "Install from a list of specific location (Advanced)" and then press NEXT. After pressing NEXT, Release the PLAY button.
- In the next step, Check "Include this location in the search", and set the location to the folder where you have unzipped your file, i.e.
c:\tevion-2.620revised\tevion-drivers\
Then, Press NEXT.
- The Wizard will now successfully install the driver.
For the remaining part, simply go to the folder, i.e.
c:\tevion-2.620revised\Apps\
and run the file stupdaterapp.exe to update your firmware to the latest version. The updating process will take about a few minutes, depending on the size of your memory. (Note, if you had choosen "Format Data Area", make sure you transfer your data file, i.e. music, video and images, to your computer as backup before running the firmware update application)
The instruction to rectify driver compatibility issue is pretty straightforward. Feel free to ask me any question, if you have issue.
