I choose to write this post, because I happened to consider upgrading my ancient Nokia 3310 mobile phone, which is at least 6 years old.
As according to some sources, the Nokia 3310 is a dual band GSM900/1800 mobile phone released in the 4th quarter of 2000.
This particular phone model was one of the most successful phones and it has sold extremely well, with over 100 million pieces being sold.
I did not have the deepest urge to upgrade my robust mobile device, but whilst in Singapore, I was highly tempted by the extremely low price offered by mobile service provider, in this case, M1.
Samsung Z240

The Samsung Z240 is powered by dual-camera video call capability with 3G technology; that is, there is an external camera (allowing pictures taken at resolution up to 1280 x 1024 pixels) and an internal camera (with reduced resolution of maximum 640 x 480 pixels). Besides, it is a 1.3 Mega-pixel camera with video recording capability.
The interior consists of a 2.1" colour TFT-LCD screen, which is excellent and crystal clear to the eyes. The file manager management system allows users to browse images, audio files and even video files easily. In addition, the multimedia player is embedded onto the mobile phone which enhances user's rich multimedia experience. In case if the memory space runs low, there is an external memory slot that uses micro-SD cards to increase the phone memory's capacity.
Normally, I do not use a mobile phone for anything else other than calls and text messages. That is why Nokia 3310 fits the purpose so well for me. The new Samsung Z240 is perhaps a little too much for me to handle. I was fascinate with the functions and key features that came along with the phone.
Below are some Key Features of Samsung Z240:
- Able to display Photo during 3G Call
- Able to record video & take picture of the 3G Call
- Googleâ„¢ mobile search and Gmailâ„¢(Google Mail)
- uGO / uTrack / uSearch and Black GUI
- Handsfree Dual Speaker / Pictbridge Printing
- 1.3 Megapixel Camera + VGA

Still, I believe the phone is going to be under-utilised by me. Nonetheless, it is definitely a great phone to have, especially for a price of only £13, highly value for money. Therefore, I feel it deserved at least an 8 out of 10 rating.
(On top of that, M1 customers may stand to win a Luxury Carribean Cruise for two)
