A rather common error arises when users upgrade from an earlier version of phpBB. Below is an example:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]Field 'forum_last_post_subject' doesn't have a default value [1364]
After browsing through the forums trying to find an answer, it almost seems so impossible. Nevertheless, I did a couple of research myself and managed to find figure out a solution for it, which is SO simple!
(find out how to solve this phpBB error issue, click here...)
Solution for SQL Error
It would be easier done through phpMyAdmin panel, if you have access to this application.
- Under cPanel, click on phpMyAdmin icon.

- Select your phpBB database, and then click on the "xxx_topics", where "xxx" represents your phpBB database suffix.

- Browse to the line that says "topic_last_post_subject" and click on the "pencil" icon at the extreme right.

- Change the value of the Null field to null (as shown below). Then, click Save.

After you have completed the above procedure, the next time you create a new topic, the error will no longer show up. Good luck!

ahhhhh thanks for this post.. it seems to have fixed my problem, which the scripts on phpbb.com didn't fix. I upgraded from 3.0RC7 to 3.0.5 when I got that error.

I'm looking to start a alternative website to Ebay and was noticing a few websites like eBid, UBid, and Swoopo that seem to be pretty good with the amount of traffic they get. Can someone recommend a customizable script where I can set up my own website and attract visitors
I'm pretty good at php and some design so that's not a issue, just don't want to spend to much.
Thanks.
