With the recent introduction of Google Chrome, it has, once again, sparked a strong browser war competition against all the browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera and some others, such as Netscape.
However, today we are not going to join in the crowd and compare the speeds between all the browsers, rather we are going to provide a simple and quick tip to optimise and speed up Mozilla Firefox.
Although claimed to be second fastest, behind Chrome, but there are still some ways where Firefox can been tweaked to boost the browsing speed!
Speed Up Firefox Methodology
- Run Firefox.
- From the address bar, type in "about:config", without the quotes(""). The following warning message will appear (see below).

Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" to continue. - Next, scroll to the line that says "network.http" or type "network.http" on the text bar as shown below.

- Change the variables to the following values:
- network.http.pipelining - True
- network.http.pipelining.maxrequest - (between 8 and 30)
- network.http.proxy.pipelining - True
- Next, you can also speed up loading of the web page by doing this tweak: From doing so, it minimises the time that the browser waits before it starts showing a web page.

Hi angono, these actions are reversible. If there is any issue, you can simply revert back to the old settings. There is not much of a huge risk involved.
Cheers,
Keith
