My Live Search - New Google Competitor?

Posted in

In a few weeks' time, My Live Search is expected to take the cyber world by storm as Rob Gabriel, a self-taught software developer, plans to set the new search engine live. The search engine is expected to launch between mid and end of June 2007. With this plan lining up, is Google's domination of the Internet's Search engine coming to an end soon?

According to the site, My Live Search is the first, true "real-time" search engine on the Internet. Because it is so fast, the search on the World Wide Web (WWW) only take seconds to generate (not considering results retrieved directly from the indexed database). This is the first of its kind search engine, which gives power and live information to the user to obtain data directly off the net. This technology is not a new idea, but it has been under constant development and research over the past eight years in Melbourne, Australia.

(find out more about MLS...)

Brisbane Times interviewed Rob Gabriel who claimed that his search engine is capable of giving better and more relevant result than the search king, Google, primarily because it is based on a live search algorithm.

My Live Search works on basis by passing search terms through Google, or other indexed search databases, whereby these results are treated as "starting points" along with users' bookmarks and other popular web hubs. In other word, users will need to implement a small browser plug-in for the search to work efficiently. After which, the live search will take over the hard work and crawl through hundred of web pages which are related to these initial points, providing user with more relevant results.

According to Mr Gabriel,

...This has the potential to change the way people search the internet," he said. "Google can't search every page every day (to build its index). The web is so dynamic and changes so often - MyLiveSearch turns your own computer into a 'super-spider' to search it in real time.

This technology could be snapped onto any of the major search engines and improve them....

As some (unknown source) has estimated that Google might have indexed only one-fifth of the sites that are in the Internet, this means there is a large part of the Internet which remains to be explored.

This newly set-up of My Live Search might provide the solution to this existing problem.
