Host Matrix is one of the best free web hosting sites that I have come across. It all started in 2004, when two members of the Host Matrix forum, Creator and Terminator built upon the idea to give members of the forums free hosting, who have activately participated in the forum. Instead, its goal is to provide free PHP Hosting (or generally Free Web Hosting) to everyone that needs it, and in return help contribute to the growing community and other fellow members of Host Matrix.

With regards to hosting plans, the quality of service that Host Matrix is offering free hosting is unmatched. Comparing on similar platforms with other free web hosting services, Host Matrix is built on its renowned reputation over the past few years. Offering three different types of hosting plans, it has a great range of usage packages to suit the needs of any users; even with their most basic plan, it includes MySQL database, cPanel and full PHP support. The Expert Package also comes with Add-on Domains support. To ensure quality of service, members are required to request for Package 1 first. Requesting (new) members will need at least 5 posts before making their request. More than often, new users who jump into the wagon without reading the FAQ and start requesting without any useful post, are usually rejected. This idea is to ensure members do read the FAQ and TOS before agreeing to any condition laid down by the Host Matrix. Members are allowed to upgrade to better plans, after achieving sufficient reputation points, and especially when their hosting requires it; the reason is that it ensure these invaluable resources are not wasted. For instance, if bandwidth is only used up, then only bandwidth upgrade is available on that account. The same goes for space upgrade for members with high space usage.

Reputations points can be given in several ways. All new members start with 10 reputation points. First of all, if a member makes a quality post and is deemed useful by another fellow Host Matrix member, the latter can give positive reputation points to the posting members. Also, members get additional reputation points every week by the Reputation Fairy. However, if a member becomes inactive in the forum, his or her reputation points will decrease. Once that drops below the limit as given by the Hosting Package, the account will be downgraded instead of being terminated. However, if the reputation points fall below that requirement for Package 1, then the account may be suspended. Normally, Host Matrix does make a point to send a warning message to the member before terminating the account.

In general, it is not too difficult to get a hosting plan with Host Matrix.
