GMail Goes Offline

Gmail Offline Logo

As much as we all love Google Mail, also known as GMail, there was one small disadvantage; that is, GMail account is inaccessible once user was disconnected from the Internet.

However, that has changed now. GMail is providing users with Offline Mode that allows users to access emails that have already been sent or received. In addition, users can also compose new email messages in draft mode and save them to be sent later once users connect to the Internet.

(How to Configure Offline Mode for GMail...)

Configure GMail for Offline Mode

  1. To get started, click on the Settings at the top of the Gmail page.
    GMail Settings
  2. Click on Lab tab.
    GMail Lab Offline Mode
  3. Choose "Enable for Offline".
  4. Restart GMail.

Once GMail is restarted, you will see the Offline link at the top of the GMail page. Click on it and follow the instructions, which will prompt you to install Gears, a software that is needed to run GMail in offline mode.
