
It was widely reported that some of the important accounts, belonging to emails and banks, have been targetted as part of the "industry-wide phishing scheme". More than 30,000 names and passwords have been reported to be posted online.
According to Google spokesman, hackers have gained user credentials through these scam. It is not known how many of such Google accounts have been affected. The phishing scam was originally thought to target just Hotmail users. However, it was brought to light when 10,000 Hotmail addresses were posted online at Pastebin.
To ensure you do not fall victims to these scams, it is recommended that account holders change passwords on every sites that they use, frequently.
