Digital Point Forums Attacked by Spammer on November 23, 2008

Posted in

Digital Point Forums seems to be under severe attack by a person with username, "cuhamelsamast". As such, it has resulted in poor responsiveness of the server and often dropping connections, rendering the site with Page Load Error. Apparently, this is similar to a Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack.

(check the screenshot here...)

As seen from the screen-shot, one specific user has managed to take out the servers' resources by targetting a particular Forum column - Introductions. It has remarkably slowed down the server's response to other users, thereby taking up the bandwidth.

This is probably one of the rare occasions that Digital Points is facing such attacks, although in many previous occasions, Digital Point Forums has been the focal point and jealousy of several other hackers.

DP is down again

Seems like the problem is not yet resolved. DP went down again, it was working an hour ago.

Finally someone with brains ....

I have been watching the hacker / spammer hit the forums and now it's getting quite serious .... the spammer is now writing - "I am going to kill this web site" .... repeatedly ....

There's been no let up - at all .... just his bot going crazy.

Wonder if the only way to stop this is to track him down ? near impossible if he's decent at what he does.

Why doesn't DP just disable the forum that he locks on to ? That way wouldn't his spam die in the ass ?

Anyway I have seen multiple user names posting at once - so I think there's actually multiple attackers.

Too bad

Wow... seems like the problem is not resolved yet :(

Well, it sucks and hopefully

Well, it sucks and hopefully the hacker is brought to justice.

Spammer from the East.

I seen this for a few days now, a spammer hitting all the forums at digital point, i guest he got pissed because the mod deleted his spam, so he's taking the site down in revenge.

Easy fix

Shawn could just disable new user signups and that would stop the spammer from creating new accounts. Then it would just be a matter of banning the accounts that he already has created and the problem is solved. Once he adds some more security measures to the site, he could then reopen registrations.
